I know, I know. Hear me out!
The other day, I had a conversation on Twitter with another editor after we discovered that the dreaded Comic Sans plays a huge role in our editing process.
Yup. That terrible font that no one likes and has become the butt of Internet jokes for years.

Comic Sans was originally designed to be easy-to-read for children and people with developmental disabilities. But since then it has become the butt of lots of jokes. Some people see Comic Sans and think it's childish and unprofessional.
So why would it play such a big role in my editing process?
Well, have you ever read something so many times that nothing makes sense anymore and you're not catching your mistakes? Happens to me all the time. That's when I make the switch to Comic Sans. There aren't many fonts like it, so I find it really jarring on my eyes. It makes whatever I'm working on feel like a whole new piece of writing. All of a sudden all the funny grammatical mistakes, layout, and argument pop right out at me, which makes the editing process so much easier.
Give it a try!
